Tyabo Returns Home as Niger Tornadoes Appoints Him Chief Coach After a Decade Away

Niger Tornadoes FC have appointed one of the State's most accomplished football tacticians, Coach Abdullahi Umar Tyabo, as the club's new Chief Coach, marking his return home after 10 years of coaching across different parts of the country.

The appointment has been widely welcomed by football enthusiasts in Niger State, who believe Tyabo's vast experience and proven track record will add immense value to the technical crew led by Technical Adviser Coach Kabiru Suleiman Dogo.

A CAF C Licence holder, Tyabo also possesses several advanced coaching qualifications from Brazil, including a Diploma B Certificate.

Tyabo began his coaching career in Minna as a youth coach, managing amateur sides Rocky Stars FC and KK United.

His breakthrough into the Nigeria Premier Football League came with Wikki Tourists, where he served under Coach Abdul Maikaba. He later moved with Maikaba to Akwa United, helping the club lift the 2017 Aiteo Cup after defeating Niger Tornadoes in the final. He was also part of the Akwa United team that clinched the Nigeria Premier Football League title in 2021.

Over the past decade, Tyabo has built an impressive coaching résumé, working alongside renowned tacticians such as Rafael Everton, Baba Ganaru, Kennedy Boboye and Fatai Osho.

He has also served as Head Coach of Nigeria's U-15 national team in 2015 and the U-13 team in 2021. Before returning to Niger Tornadoes, he was Head Coach of Gombe United and most recently Rovers FC of Calabar, bringing a wealth of experience to his new role with the Ikon Allah Boys.
