Niger Tornadoes FC is established under the ownership of the Niger State Government, playing under the motto “Dedication & Discipline” and soon known to supporters as the Ikon Allah Boys.
The club's finest hour — Tornadoes lift the Nigerian FA Cup, still the most prestigious honour in the trophy cabinet.
A low point: Tornadoes drop out of the Nigerian top flight on goal difference, even as Sibi Gwar finishes the league's top scorer.
Under coach Abdullahi Biffo, the club wins its Nigeria National League group and returns straight to the top flight.
A first cup final since the 2000 triumph — after a goalless draw at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, Tornadoes fall to Akwa United 3–2 on sudden-death penalties.
An AITEO Cup final lost 4–3 on penalties to Kano Pillars in Kaduna, a CAF Confederation Cup campaign ended 5–4 on aggregate by Santoba of Guinea — and relegation in the abridged NPFL season, all in one year.
Tornadoes beat Shooting Stars 3–2 in the NNL Super 8 final to win the tournament and reclaim their place in the NPFL.
NPFL survival is secured on the final day of the 2025/26 season, while the Bako Kontagora Stadium undergoes renovation for the seasons ahead.
