Niger Tornadoes 2–1 Enyimba

Niger Tornadoes began the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League with a 2–1 win over Enyimba at Bako Kontagora Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off was 4:00 PM. Kabiru Dogo's side took all three points from Matchday 1 in front of their own supporters.

The first goal of the new season arrived in the 40th minute. Aliyu Goyi converted from the penalty spot and the Ikon Allah Boys led.

Enyimba scored once.

Seven minutes from the end, Bashir Usman found Olalusi Micheal. Olalusi struck a curling shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and dropped into the net. The 83rd-minute goal made it 2–1.

It was Tornadoes' first competitive home fixture of the campaign on the renovated Bako Kontagora surface, after the squad returned to full training here on 24 August.

The clubs had shared last season. Enyimba won 1–0 in Aba on 31 August 2025; Tornadoes won 2–0 at this ground on 25 January 2026. This time the points stayed in Minna.
