Match Preview: Niger Tornadoes vs Enyimba

Niger Tornadoes open their 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign at home to Enyimba on Sunday, 30 August, with kick-off at 4:00 PM at Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

The NPFL season is under way from 28 August. The Ikon Allah Boys' first assignment is Matchday 1 against the People's Elephant — a home opener on the renovated pitch after a pre-season spent largely away from Minna.

The sides met twice last season. Enyimba won 1–0 in Aba on 31 August 2025; Tornadoes answered 2–0 at Bako Kontagora Stadium on 25 January 2026.

Kabiru Dogo's squad finished a three-week pre-season with an Abuja camp, friendlies in Zaria — including a 2–2 draw with Ranchers Bees — then the Gusau/Ahlan Cup in Katsina, where they went out on penalties to Kwara United after a 1–1 quarter-final. They had held Barau 1–1 in the group and later played out a goalless friendly with Nasarawa United.

Full training resumed at Bako Kontagora Stadium on 24 August as renovation work neared completion, with the ground still due NPFL inspection before the campaign. The club posted this week that the squad is getting set for the weekend.

Usman Audu and Abdulazeez Yusuf have arrived from El-Kanemi Warriors, and Alladoum Kolimba from Remo Stars. Starting XI will be confirmed closer to kick-off.
