Kano Pillars 3–2 Niger Tornadoes

Niger Tornadoes suffered a 3–2 defeat to Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, 6 September, in their first away fixture of the 2026/27 NPFL season.

Kano Pillars took the lead through Ubong Friday in the 40th minute. Fabian Nworie added a second in first-half stoppage time, then scored again in the 54th minute to put the hosts three goals ahead.

Tornadoes responded through Godfrey Joseph, who pulled one back in the 73rd minute. Substitute Wasiu Jimoh scored in the 90th minute to make it 3–2 and set up a tense finish, but Pillars held on for the points.

The late goals showed the visitors' persistence, though the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Niger Tornadoes returned to Minna for their next league assignment against Plateau United.
